Finally, it's done!!!

Finally, I have finished this quilt - Every Day Angels by The Chook Shed!! I have had the top done for 5 years (or more!!!) and have only recently got it professionally quilted (Esmes at Kings Meadows and what a great job they have done!!). I actually finished the binding on Sunday and have only just been able to post a pic for all to see :)

Freehand Machine Applique and Quilting

Today I attended an Adult Education class for Freehand Machine Applique and Quilting. I have tried many times to quilt freehand and am just terrible at it!! After this lesson - still not that great at quilting, but, didnt mind the applique bit, making landscapes and have left there inspired to do more!! There was 10 ladies in the group and we all made something different, from our own ideas. One lady made this BEAUTIFUL sky and sea at sunset wallhanging, it had bits of purple, red, orange with different shades of blue in it...... just lovely!! The tree tops in mine actually has scraps of thread bunched up in a ball and sewn in squiggels over the top in various colours - quite effective I thought!!
I am still doing the binding on Everyday Angels - not much more to do, I should have a pic in a couple of days...........
Hugs, Sarah
Oh, and if you want to check out Kristy's blog to see what she made me for my Birthday here is the link http://kristyscreativenest.blogspot.com/index.html

Journey of a Quilter Block 7

I have now finished Block 7!! I have had the stitchery done for a week (I had put it aside to get some of the Prim Treasures Secret Swap done) and as I have the flu, with Monday and Tuesday off, I got to put it all together!! This quilt is just beautiful and it has been fun to make!! And, I even finished this block before the next one has come in the mail :)
I have also put the biniding on the Every Day Angels quilt, just got to do the hand sewing - which I did one side last night after work while watching tv ..... YIPPEE!!!
I had a great Birthday on Tuesday with lovely gifts, Pandora, choc's, an old Singer, quilt labels, a lovely Saltbox note pad and Kristy made me a beautiful bag from Poetry Collection fabrics as well as a HUGE doll named Patience - just gorgeous!! I will let you know once she puts some pics up in her blog ;)

Mother's Day pressie for my Mum

Well, as promised, here is the piccy of the pressie I made for my Mum for Mother's Day!! A fabric covered tile with a stitchery of a little teddy bear, a place for the little stork scissors and a pin cushion and hanging of that is a little sewing bin!! I made this in Mum's favourite fabric...... Aubrey Rose and Folk Art Xmas IV by Robyn Pandolph. The ones I used for her 50th B'day Quilt last year. Around the top of the bin, I have sewn a stip of little pom poms!! I have actually made 3 of these...... One for myself, one for a swap and this one!! So easy to make and I just love 'em!!

Mother's Day pressie for MIL

Hi, I have now finished (and I must say only just!!!) my Mother In Law's Mothers Day pressie!! It will match her bedroom perfectly (as this is where she puts all her little crafty things, and me, along with my SIL laugh about that!!) It is an Annie Downs - Hatched and Patched design which was in her new book "A Family Gathering". Not sure if it was just me, but, when I was sewing it all up, I noticed the top appliqe block did not match the bottom circles so I had to put a strip down the side!! Doesnt look too bad!! I am quite happy with the outcome :)

Update

I had a fun day last Saturday at the Wilted Quilters Friendship Day. Lots of beautiful quilts being made by the lovely ladies. Lovely food.... particularly loved the licorice allsort slice (even thought I dont like licorice that much)!!! They had a raffle which was $1 per ticket and between myself, Kristy and Roseanne we had 12 and we didnt win a cracker!! We were told that they usually raffle off a quilt, but instead they opted for smaller handmade gifts and what gifts they were - block keepers, arm chair caddys, bags, scissor keepers.... amazing!! I will post a piccy of Mum's Mothers Day pressie on Sunday or Monday and if I finish MIL's before then (yep, I am still at it!!) I will post a piccy of that too!!
